3 Years Jail in India for Browsing Blocked Websites!
Indian govt. is trying it's best to protect all copyright holders and hard work of original makers. In last few years, they've blocked many URLs, Torrent sites and ISP's have also supported government. Well, we were still able to browse the blocked URLs till now and there was no penalty or punishment for the same.
But, according to a new report, If you browse this Blocked URLs with other techniques and if you're caught browsing the sites, download files from them than you may get three-year jail sentence as well as invite a fine of Rs 3 lakh.
Recently we've seen big incidents like KickAss owners arrest, Torrentz's welfare and now, our govt. will punish us if we try to browse the blocked URLs.
If you visit such a URL, you will be shown the following warning.
"This URL has been blocked under the instructions of the Competent Government Authority or in compliance with the orders of a Court of competent jurisdiction. Viewing, downloading, exhibiting or duplicating an illicit copy of the contents under this URL is punishable as an offence under the laws of India, including but not limited to under Sections 63, 63-A, 65 and 65-A of the Copyright Act, 1957 which prescribe imprisonment for 3 years and also fine of upto Rs. 3,00,000/-. Any person aggrieved by any such blocking of this URL may contact at urlblock@tatacommunications.com who will, within 48 hours, provide you the details of relevant proceedings under which you can approach the relevant High Court or Authority for redressal of your grievance"
So, beware if you see this kind of message on any site, don't try to trick govt. by hiding your IPs or something, ISP's have all the data what you're browsing and what you're downloading. Also, do buy original content from makers to support the industry.
